Total affiliate type revenue for December was $5,022.81 ($162.03 a day). That’s up 6 months in a row, just under $200 more than November and my 2nd best month so far since making these reports.
Although revenue is again up I’m a little disappointed as it’s the Christmas period, this should be the time of year you make maximum profits from affiliate programs, did OK, but not great. Also had a problem with one of my sites and the Google AdSense program, Google AdSense banned it because of the content: I’ve a jokes site and as some of the most popular jokes are racist jokes and this site is VERY popular and has thousands of comments (pretty much all on the racist jokes pages) it looks like Google AdSense doesn’t like some of the comments (the racist jokes have been up over a year). I I pretty much stopped reading the comments (just check for obvious link spam) a while back (I don’t understand racism) and the visitors are not being particularly nice to one another. Fortunately it’s one of those niches where you need a LOT of traffic to make money from AdSense, so it’s not the end of the world. Realised after a week Google AdSense had banned the site and have now added Clicksor and Chitika, they currently aren’t making half what I was making from Google AdSense, but I’ve not really optimised placement etc… yet.
As always this revenue does not include the money I make through my SEO business, themes sold at SEO/AdSense Themes or any investments, so ONLY affiliate and advertising (AdSense type programs) revenue.

Since June 1st 2008 to December 31st 2009 I’ve made $74,147.32 from affiliate revenue sources.
Average monthly revenue (19 months) $3,902.49 $3,840.25
To reach my millionaire goal by the age of 45 (May 19th 2015) or ~7 years (~2,500 days) from making these revenue reports, I’d need to earn on average $400 a day.
Averaging affiliate revenue per day (over the 548 days) : $128.06 a day, not even close
I’m still spending way too much time on my UK General Election 2010 site, the sites now broke 3,000 comments! Funny thing is since I registered the domain in June 2009 it’s only made around £110 from AdSense! Pretty pathetic for all the interest it’s getting, (one day it had over 4,000 visitors) I can now a last fully appreciate why some webmasters can build a site and not make a penny from it, it’s very sad for me to check AdSense revenue for the site and see 3,000 AdSense impressions and income of 10p for the day, some times it’s nothing
Think I’ve mentioned it before on this site the worst thing you can do when trying to make money via the AdSense program is give your visitors what they are looking for, once they find it, they stop looking. The perfect AdSense site (made for AdSense site anyway) teases the visitor with a little bit of content that doesn’t quite give them what they want so they want more and the only way to get it from the site is to click an AdSense ad. I have to admit I’m not very good at building sites like those and I think long term they don’t generate an increase in traffic.

Dave great month and ‘the trend is your friend’ so keep it going.
Chitika I have checked into myself. As well as other Adsense alternative as a ‘just in case back up plan’.
It could be an idea for your themes or one on your themes, such as a Talian theme which is optimized for Chitika or clickbank. I would buy this.
You could sell a theme that has no adsense but only Clickbank for example. Your themes are well worth it and this might be of value for people who like to diversity their websites with multi streams of income, while at the same time staying within the Google guidelines of course.
You like the ‘WP Thesis theme” could have an affiliate program for your themes.
I think with creativity there is nothing stopping you from hitting your goal.
Also your UK election site is pretty good, and I see your BBpress forum going. To get people commenting on the forum is the real trick. I have seen forums take off and others do just ok.
If you have a BBpress forum take off you can use an adsense plug-in of course.
